Representation Agreements
A Representation Agreement is an estate planning tool that allows someone to plan for the possibility of incapacity. It is a legal document whereby a person, referred to as the adult, appoints another person, called the representative, and gives the representative the legal authority to make decisions on the adult’s behalf regarding financial, legal, personal and health care matters.
The Representation Agreement is similar to a power of attorney. A Power of Attorney is also a legal document that allows a person to appoint someone, called the attorney, to make decisions and assist the person, but the scope of the Power of Attorney is limited to financial and legal matters.
